I painted "Joy" for this 1900 century Romanian "Mourning Box".  Which was used when a loved one passed away, usually housed a picture of there beloved  and the box would then be closed. In some instances a veil may also  be draped over the box in a gesture of mourning. The box since it's existence had only represented sorrow and loss. But now the mourning box houses Joy.
